Fan temp switch mod....I know but one more won't hurt

Time for another one of my rambling posts. I had the temp switch go out on the bike and was able to get it home before it boiled all the water out. I thought about buying a stock switch but then thought someday they may not be available so, I got the Duralast SW648 switch and went to wrecking yard to get plug for switch. I also wanted to have a manual switch to over-ride temp switch if needed. I didn't want to butcher the stock harness so I came up with cutting the original switch apart, adding two wires for manual operation and the stock plug for the sw648 switch (fits Geo, Chevy, lincoln...lots of cars). I wanted it waterproof so I made a mold to seal wire connection.Here are some pics of the project.

Super cool stuff Dean. Nice little shop there. I don't know how folks get anything done without precision tools. Fun to see a bottle of XX on top of the lathe, haha.

OK almost done....

my shop( machine side ) just because...

stock style plugs so it looks right

and last....the over-ride switch, didn't want to drill any holes...OCD problem

It works perfectly, and now I can use stock temp switch or aftermarket

I have had a shop at home most of my adult life, and I forget what it was like not having the tools to do what you want. It's easy to take it for granted but I am thankful for what I have and am happy to help anyone in need if I can.

A place to work is the name of the game. Good you have a school that even has a shop...not many left.
Boy, it's been a long time but I spent many an hour on those 'ol south bends, tough little machines

My 2 older kids, 21 and 19 didn't even know what "shop class" meant or heard of it until I told them.
What a shame most schools have quit them.

I'm a "shop" teacher about to retire (15 days) What I see is how difficult it is to get kids interested in making stuff that isn't connected or driven by a computer.

I like that fan switch mod... I might try that.
