:hi: Stator showing 14.1 amp cold start, 12.4-13.8-14.1 variable voltage after warming up. I talked to a shop locally, their hour rate was as I remember $75. or $90 per hr. I had joined https://www.gl1200goldwings.com/ and went on line to ask about fixing an LTD with those problems. A member called neoracer, a guy from PA. answered very quick, he has among others, an SEI and LTD, he sent me a PM with his home phone number to call--this was at 9:30 pm, I called, he stays up late, we talked. He walked me step by step how to get side fairing off in one piece, and where the regulator/rectifier is to be found, and the problems I was most likely having, namely burnt plastic plugs. Information on that subject I had gotten from this site also, I think Dan pointed me to the correct forum at one time along the way, checking on this site was a blessing in itself thank you people for that! I felt after reading about the difference in stators I hoped to find someone on GW.com that owned an LTD to get a blow by blow of the problems involved with an LTD system. This guy was up to it, with LTD info. I am trying to document the repairs which involve the 3 yellow wires and both plugs from the reg/rec. A thing I did not do when I fixed the fuel gage, I had to make an internal adjustment on the thing and forgot to document it. My bad. The pics will have explanations if I can find out how to do it.GEO :music3:

Nice work! I guess I am not surprised to see the infamous stator plug problem on a 1200 too! Seeing this on your 1200 which is years from my 1100 makes me wonder if Honda should not have recalled these bikes for this problem! :mischief:

:thanks: Thanks my understanding is with the up graded voltage from the SEI-LTD stator the problem is more common in those machines. Anyway a good way to get familiar with the bike for future reference. THX Again, GEO. :music3:

the po of my 1200 wing had already replaced the stator when i got it so after reading about the problem with the stator and rectifier plug i checked mine only to find both looking good. but dirt and water seem to cause the problem and i'm too lazy for all that cutting and soldering so i disconnected the battery then unplugged the stator and rectifier and cleaned the contacts on each, reapplied dieelectric grease and plugged them back. then i took some gasket maker and sealed the back side of each connector so water and dirt cannot get in

Good idea might work, I thought of doing that and decided I didn't need the aggravation a second time so jumped into it both feet. Best of luck, it should be good to go. GEO :music3:
