Anyone care to guess why I have no flash for my signals? I have all lights working, but turn signals don't flash. Is each light circuit supposed to go from the switch to the flasher and then to the lights. Somebody read me mind, know what me wants and telepathically send it to me. I'm getting closer to riding.

I have 85 Magna switches, 77 wiring harness. I thought my flasher was good because the known good one didn't work. So I left them swapped. Tonight I went for a ride on my 77....no turn signals. Swapped them back and it works. I guess thinking about it..doesn't the power have to run throught the flasher to have them flash. I probably have them feeding from the wrong source. Probably something else on the bike is wondering,"Why does power keep going off and on?"

:smilie_happy I think I'm totaly confused now. Let's see it's a 77 Magna 1200/1000/1100/mono/mean streak wid a custom seat/airconditioned and power steering, Am I close. You don't happen to have lectric windows to, do you? :moped:

I was just looking at the 77 schematics and I think it is supposed to be fed from the flasher. I'll get it tomorrow, I hope. Flasher to left control switch and on out to the rest.

Power normally goes from the fuse to the flasher can then to the flasher switch. If they are staying on solid and not flashing it is your flasher can that is faulty. Most flasher cans are load sensitive and flash quickly if one light is not working to make the operator aware that there is a fault.

Is that with the wires on the flasher can or is that with the flasher can removed and testing just the wires?

and the nightmare continues ......seriously did you bypass the reserve lighting unit ....if not this cou,d be the problem ...I spent days chasing the lights in hooch ...get the signals to work only to have headlight quit ...get it going only to running lights quit and on and on it went till I by passed the dang unit then it work out and got things all going ....I don't know what or how that unit dose this ...but it dose ......

I did remove the reserve lighting unit. The flash was simply going through the flasher to the controls to the lights. The light went on, then off,on, then off,on, then off,on, then off,on, then off. Thanks guys. I am trying to tuck the mess all in under the tank. It goes, but it ain't purity.
