front brake MC/reservoir leak/drip ,, I changed the fluid out and put a lil pressure (unintentionally) against the old reservoir,, a few months ago,, thought maybe it had quit,, but no,, ? does anyone know the fix,, could it be as simple as replacing some O rings? thanx, :read:

just checked the length of the cover screws,, yes they are long enough that they must hold down the reservoir,, torqued them a lil harder,, maybe that will fix it. Hadn't been noticing it leaking,, put on a hundred miles last wk,, (that one warm day),, now noticed fluid,, dripping off the bottom of the brake handle pivot bolt/nut., also near the brake light micro switch

They sell rebuild kits for it, the resivour oring is a special size if memory serves me correct. Need to fuigure out just where it leaks from, It could be running down and dripping from the hose banjo bolt, the resivour or the piston seal. Wipe it down and wait till it drips to see where, or just rebuild it all or replace the whole master cylinder with new.

I got the O ring from Honda, but couldn't pry the reservoir off,, Im waiting on a rebuild kit,, meanwhile I took it apart,, it all looks like new except the rubber boot (all jacked up) where the brake handle comes in contact with the MC... anyone know if this is a seal? or a dust boot? a person just might be able to get away with just replacing that part. I just found a link/post- on here for removing the reservoir.

Yep..Just a boot but a rebuil kit should come with a new one anyhow. as for the reservoir they are tough but steady even pressure will usually free them, just apply pressure on each side and keep it there. Best to wash and dry out the unit, re mount it to the handle bar and use the bars to hold it while you pry both sides evenly.
Maybe put a blanket or some kind of shield in case the screwdriver slips, wouldnt want to hurt the bikes bodywork.

+1 A screwdriver under each end, lifting evenly. Don't pry with the tips of the screwwdrivers. I've never had one break, but they do get brittle. Fortunately, new reservoirs are available.
