Just bought a 82 interstate. I had an 81 1100GL some years ago and had to sell. Heartbreaker. But now I am going back to riding, and I looked all around to see what kind of bike to get. The only thing that kept me from going back to the 1100 again was the age and concern about reliability, but after a while I just kept coming back to the style of the 1100 and it was the only one for me. After looking a few weeks, found one and just got it home this weekend. Sure glad to see this board and so many other Wing lovers!!!

Welcome to Classics neighbor! Reliability and 1100 are the same thing!

By the way... we love pictures... even if there is snow in the picture with the bike. :smilie_happy:

Thanks Brian, still learning this message board and how to up load a picture file. will show it off eventually. Really proud of it!!
I think I uploaded it. I will post and see if it takes

Where did you find that one at: somewhere local? Very NICE!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!! I really appreciate it. I am in central PA and got my first Wing ( 81 GL) in nearby Hershey PA. That was back in '98. This time they are harder to find. I looked hard for a nice one at a reasonable price. I found this near Roanoke VA. about 5 hours from here. I can trace it back to New Hampshire, 2 owners before me. 71K on the clock, the NH owner replaced the odo and said actual mileage was close to the replacement. So not sure of actual mileage, but I know from the 81 that these are pretty bulletproof so not concerned about that. This picture is the day it arrived last Saturday. Had it shipped up because of the weather and cost and logistics of a 1 way trip to VA. needs a front tire and the choke will not stay on at all. I will work on that.
Age of timing belt is unknown What's the opinion of importance of changing it before taking a road trip?? I am thinking to do it sooner than later and avoid trouble. how long do these belts hold up?? Thanks Guys!!!

If you don't know when the belts were last changed if ever. It'd be best to change them before any road trips. Good insurance and peace of mind.

What he said!

I didn't think you picked your bike up in the local area: I am in Lebanon and haven't seen that one listed on any of the sites that people list them on.

Hi
The PO replaced the 2 pocket covers on the fairing with brushed stainless ones. I want to go back to the original way. I have the cover for the right side but need the metal clip that secures it from the bottom. Also I remember from my '81 that the left side had a snap cover of flexible vinyl. Need the pocket or well also for this side. How can I find these?

I think I added a pic. Hope it comes thru

THANKS ALL!!

You can put it in the for sale/wanted section here but I see them on ebay freqently you just need to wait till a listing with a good price. Trouble is that they are part of the faring and people tend to list the whole faring.
