GL1100 JUMPED TIME

I'm changing timing belts on the '1100. The left side jumped time. Can I just set the gear to the marks? "UP" and the -?

I'd go through the whole procedure outlined in the manual with the additional step of backing off all the valve adjusters. Good time to reset the valves anyway and backed off it's a bit more forgiving if you make a mistake.
