problem I came across was, rebuilt carbs, very clean carbs, Bike ran strong, put a new fuel filter, but fuel pump is after the fuel filter, if fuel pump has c-rap in it, you may just have plugged some of your carb jets again.

a second fuel filter after the fuel pump.

When i started doing this (my fuel filters are clear), I could see the debre getting trapped in the second filter, in the filter location post the fuel pump.

I had pulled the pump top off and it looked clean, but i was still getting c-rap in the second filter

Thanks for the tip, BTW! I had this happen before with a Gl1000 about ten years ago, and have completely forgotten about the downstream filter mod. I really ought to do it now for my Gl1100 before I ride again, especially considering the fuel contamination troubles I keep having. See, this is why I need to keep up with conversations like this, 'cause I swear I'm getting senile, lol!
