I am looking to fabricate my own trailer hitch for gl1100. My bike has the Honda saddlebags on it.
Where are the points of contact with the frame etc...

Any pointers on making a hitch would also be appreciated as to height, length or any suggestions.

Really want to know the places to attach to the bike--so I have somewhere to measure from.

Thanks for any input.

I have a Markland hitch on mine, I think it's the most common.

Fitted with a machine gun it works well for tailgaters.

I welded on a 3" receiver tube using a stick of rebar for extra support and 2 places to hook the safety chain.
I also welded a cross brace underneath but that can't be seen in the picture.
You might be able to see where the Markland attaches. It's basically an extension to the stock bumper.

<edit> The receiver tube might be the smaller one actually.

I have a Markland on mine, have not used it as of yet, does anyone else have a Markland hitch (not like Dan's) how well does it work for you ?

Thank you that is what I needed. So it goes on the saddle bag mount AND replaces the back round (bumper).

two places (both sides). Right?

Really like the zoom in on the pics. I am going to fabricate my own.

Thank You
