Ever had a floppy Mirror??? I have, and most times i just take it off and tighten the little bolt ....but lately the dang thing won't tighten the threads are stripped soooo I decided to use a work around as a permanrnt fix. I took the mirror off and removed the little bolt that is supposed to hold it all togather and checked the hole and it was stripped out so I collected some parts to reassemble it with

I used a #10 sheetmetal screw about 3/4 inch and washers as needed and reassembled

then I tightend the screw untill it bottomed out, then removed the screw and ground off the excess, reinstalled and tightened until good and tight

This is the second one I have done, the first one went on my 318 mile run last Thursday

and it held great at even 70 MPH down the Freeway. This one is for my builder.

I went thru the same thing, and did the same "mod" on my mirrors. Eventually, the little post that the bolt/screw threads into broke off completely on both mirrors. I wound up drilling a hole all the way thru, and used a bolt/nut arrangement, but the nut kept backing off. I finally gave in and bought new mirrors from JC Whitney.
I hope your mod works out better than mine did! :clapping: :clapping:

Good tip thanks. I tried the fairing mirrors and the kept flopping back and I had handlebar mirrors so I never messed with them. I think I'll try them again after I do the mod, I want to know if I'll like them better the the handlebar ones.

Yeah went thru this same thing a while back finally broke down and bought a new one, have heard of guys JB Welding them but you better have it where you want it the first time doing this :hi:
