The foam handgrips on my GL1100i are about shot so I am shopping for new ones. I only find grips for the 82-83 Interstate, Mine is an 81. Anyone know the difference in the grips between 81 and 82?

I don't think there is a difference on grips but I do know the 81 takes a 7/8 grip.
I replaced mine a couple of months ago with a pair of these and I like them and the cost was pretty good to.

Does this type of grip help with the numbing in one's hands that can happen on a long trip?

~O~

I haven't had them that long so far the longest has been about 2 hours in 1 sitting and I think there are comfortable no numbing but i haven't had an issue with that. I would get another pair if these wear out.
I originally got them because they looked like they would be comfortable and they are, and they look good too, I don't like foam grips. The price was price right I didn't want to spend $50 on a set of grips.

I like it!!! I like it!!! Where did you get it??? I have carpal tunnel and tennis elbow on my right side and a palm grip looks like the ticket! If I did not have to squeeze and hold the grip, it would be better. It seems my carb return spring is real strong. When I use the throttle lock and rest my hand it improves! (cruise control for me if I can)

I got it at a local bike shop . A friend I know got one in the states from Whitney"s I believe he said was the name of the place. I bet you would find them on ebay I paid like 12.00 CAN for it. I have a heavy throttle and before the palm rest my wrist would get sore. Now I ride for hrs with little or no discomfort.

Once you find the spot that suits you it stays right there by a spring type action. I found it took a little getting used to but now I am I wouldn't be without it

The grips on mine are supposed to have gel inserts, but I think it's actually rubber. :headscratch: The throttle grip has a built-in palm rest on it, and I can say it definitely makes a difference in the wrist fatigue area! I have a throttle lock, too, but only use it if I need to remove my hand from the throttle for some reason. It won't actually hold a steady speed, anyway, but it can certainly give your wrist/arm a break if needed. :good:

I took some pics of my palm rest today while I was out installing my new mirrors. I actually found out it is adjustable!!
Don't know what brand of grips these are, but they are pretty hearty...well made. The palm rest will move/adjust quite a bit. I've always felt it needed to be a little farther up on the grip, but didn't know it could be moved until today. Anyway, here's some pics. Sorry for the fuzzy ones. For some reason, my camera suddenly lost the "Close-up" program/setting, so anything I try to get a pic of within a foot or so, turns out fuzzy.... :sensored:
