Went for a gas run.. shopped at wally world ... got drink and salad at Mickey d's... on way home hit bump and headlight both hi/low went out.. think I have connection issues.. the lights were working shortly there after and at home when I parked it tonite... any suggestion about taking off the fairing, issue to look for.. this is on my 85 1200 interstate... I will be waiting...

I'm not familiar with how the interstate wiring gets to the fairing. It's highly unlikely both elements went out at the same time. I did have a Yamaha do that once and I went out the next day to search why and it worked again. So it might be the ignition switch.

Just don't hit that same bump again....problem solved....yeeeesh...I gotta think of everything around here??? :Doh2:
:smilie_happy:  :hihihi:
I had a similar problem...dead headlight, both hi & low. Turned out it was the start button on mine. Don't know if yours kills the headlights while cranking or not, like the older ones, but all I did on mine was spray some cleaner up in it, and mash it repeatedly(key OFF) for a minute or so. After that, it hasn't done it again.
Might as well check the connections anyway. No help on how to get to them, tho....my "expertise" is on my '81 only...

btw...the Service Manuals are in the Gallery....prolly some good info on headlight service in there. :good:
