Hi All, new guy from Minnesota here. I became a Wingnut in August of 2008 when I purchased my 1982 1100i. When I got her she only had 28,000 miles. Now the clock reads 88,240 miles, but I went for 5 months without a speedometer (couldn't find a replacement lower gear for the speedo) so I am guessing that she is actually in the 95,000-100,000 mile range but that doesn't really matter. All I have had to do to her is change out timing belts at 50,000 miles, new tires every 18,000-20,000 miles, change oil every 3,000 miles, new brake pads at about 70,000 miles, new throttle and choke cables at 80,000 miles, and new speedo cable and lower gear at 80,000 miles. She is a joy to ride around. She is my daily rider (as long as it is over 25 degrees and not raining/snowing). I have friend who has one nearly identical to mine and he has 300,000+ on his, so I am expecting to be riding her a good long time. I have taken a few bike trips that are generally in the 4-5 day (1500-2000 mile) range. I have even completed two 1,000 mile iron butt day rides just to say that I have done them. Looking forward to spending time on this board learning and sharing.

Welcome from Oz. Pleased to read of all those great miles that you have done on an GW1100, can't wait to play catch up on the Rats Nest. :good:

Greetings from the Sunshine State.

Live long and prosper. God bless you.

Now that I think about it I also replaced the clutch cable, and of course the plugs, battery, and lights periodically. Only been "stranded" once and that doesn't really count because my throttle cable broke in my in-laws drive way (only a mile from my house and he had all the tools I needed). All in all it has been the most reliable transportation I've ever owned. It's a great bike. I've never ridden any other Goldwing and really don't have any desire for the new 1800's. They look and feel like a two wheeled Lexus instead of a bike. The 1000's and 1100's just have more character. Just my opinion of course.

Well Hello from Oklahoma!
I have about the same time on the forum as you and around 115 miles on the 1984. Not 115k.115, just got it.
