I've got a back burner GL1100 that I'd like to get started on (started back on). I never thought I'd ever like a bike with a windshield but after trading an old Japanese gray market tractor for a pretty nice 82 Aspencade (28K miles) I got hooked. I only rode it once about four years ago but the brakes scared the hell out of me. It had been sitting for years but my anal side emerged and I decided to tear it down and replace everything consumable on it to include a set of nice Dunlop Elite II's. I've got several bikes that I regularly ride and I'm very particular about tires. Good as they look, I'm going to put new ones on when I get ready to ride. I figure I need to replace all the hoses, belts, cables, etc. In addition to that I'll probably go through the carbs and rebuild the shocks and forks.
My main reason for posting at this point is to introduce myself and get a few encouraging words. I've got a pretty well equipped shop and I've been fooling around with wrenching for over 40 years. I've been riding for over 50 years. My main rides now are a 75 Yamaha XS50, a 94 Sportster and an 08 Ninja 250. The Ninja is the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle. I also have a lot of projects such as three old Triumph Bonnevilles (my first love), Harley Toppers and a 165. My 4th Japanese bike is a 66 Honda Super Cub. A Cushman Super Eagle rounds out the collection. My main obstacle now is room to work on all this stuff. Anyway, hello to all, and I'll try and get more involved in the coming months.
