I recently purchased a 1983 GL1100 Aspencade to restore and ride. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and I have already done some lurking here. I can't wait to ride it, but it will be awhile.

Welcome from Oz, nice project. Steve83 will be happy for another new 83 owner.

Welcome from a displacd Texan in Southern California! Yup, Ansimp is right - I'm thrilled to see another '83 resurrected! Of course, it's good to see any Oldwing put back on the road.

So, tell us a bit about yourself and this sweet machine of yours...

Well, I bought it in San Antonio for $400. It isn't running, but the engine is turns freely. It came with a ton of extra chrome, crash bars, and a set of newer rear luggage. I think I'm going to see if the newer luggage will fit. It has electrical issues, someone took out the fuse panel and alot of disconnected wires. First order of business will be to go through the wiring and replace the missing ignition switch. Then I will see if it will run on carb clean before I go into the carbs. I was a small engine mechanic for about 6 years and an auto mechanic for a short time, so I am not afraid to get dirty! I plan on painting it and buffing the engine if everything works out mechanically. I did loose the right saddlebag lid on the way home with it, but the newer set has all of it's parts. I used to ride a 250cc Chinese scooter until it was on it's 2nd head after 2000 miles. I am a large fellow and was asking too much of it on the freeway at 65-70. I can't wait to ride the wing, but It will be some time before I get to that point.
