Has anyone removed one of these clocks. Looking for tips to remove and test. Cannot get anything to display on screen. Not sure if there is a connection problem or if clock has failed. Step one taking the clock out without taking the whole fairing apart. If you can help thanks in advance.

Post a picture or two. It may be an aftermarket add on.
Oh I just remembered that some owners opted to disconnect clocks and radio preset wires to avoid the battery draining over time. That may be what happened to yours.

It is the original.

Before you start with the hard stuff have you checked the fuses and wires? Slabgohst`s suggestion makes perfect sense.
A wire diagram would be helpful for tracing where it gets it`s power from.
I went and did some research for ya..The black and light green are the light and 12V from battery, the red is the power source from the ignition and green is ground as the earth is round., If you find those wires check them for power using the green ground wire soz you know if the green is grounding, if no 12V then use the frame or other solid ground to check and see if the green ground wire is broken, if still no power then trace the red wire.

Not sure where the power comes from or if it is the same source as the backlight. When the ignition switch is on the backlight on the clock comes on. Does anyone know if there is a separate power source or if fused, where it is located?

That would be the back light and memory..That leaves the red wire for power, I wish I could tell you where to access it but I am unfamiliar with the 1200.

My Aspencade is pretty much stripped at this point and the 1200 I ride is a standard without the fancy electrics. I'm following this fix in case I get there putting the aspencade back together.

Just realized the radio memory is not working either. My guess is they are both related and someone has disconnected them. Does anyone know of a fuse or how most people disconnect?

Take your ignition key, unlock your stereo and pull it straight out towards you, it use s a quick connect so you don't have to worry about any wires coming with it. Take your speaker covers off and unscrew I think it's four screws that hold the dash trim and remove it, the clock is fastened to the dash trim with a slid clip and if my memory is right theres a plug on the back of the clock to undo. Not a big job if the radio keylock is not stuck, if it is use some liquid graphite and work it with the key, it should come loose, mine did.

Oh I forgot, there should be a 3 amp fuse for the clock memory under the left fairing pocket, I think four scress hold the pocket on, lift it out and on the inside wall of fairing are the fuses. There marked well. The 10 amp fuse next to it is the power fuse for the clock.

Problem solved the clock and presets are on the same curcuit. Even though I should have traced the wires back from the fuse holder it was much easier to remove existing wiring from fuse holder and run a new power lead straight from the battery to the fuse holder. I disconnected the old wiring to prevent back feeding. Tied & tucked everything up nice, tested all accessories and took it for a ride. All is well. Thanks everyone for you help.

Glad it all works now. If you don't have one I suggest you get a good battery tender for those longer times between rides. Or just remove the battery.
