Just broke down and put an AGM battery in the wing and noticed that I now have a short delay of the starter when I push the starter button, I know I probably should check some conections, but has anyone out there ever had this symptom.

It does sound like a poor connection on the battery, make sure that the lugs are clean.
 
YA...prolly got a loose connection somewhere. I have an AGM batt in mine, and haven't had that particular problem, so it's most likely a loose connection. :yes:

Yep....if the carbs drip into the intake manifold, the engine can experience a hydrolock condition. There may not be enough gas to fully lock the piston, but enough to make the starter work REAL hard to crank over the engine. Easy way to tell. Try to start the engine and the starter only does about 1/2 a crank and the engine stops. Wait about 15 seconds and try again. If it starts right up.....gas was in the cylinders! (Advice from an experienced carb leaking goober who killed his battery trying to figure out what was going on! :hihihi:

WORD...I have this problem periodically.

The hesitation is just that, the starter is not even trying to kick in as it use to as soon as you pushed the button, there is probably a 1-2 sec delay before it even engages, when it does it rolls over just fine. :hi:

Starter solenoid is on the fritz. Whack it with a hammer to loosen it up or just replace it!
 
If you have a voltmeter, connect it to the starter solenoid, check the voltage to the solenoid from the starter button. If you are getting full battery voltage to the solenoid and it doesn’t close instantly you have a bad solenoid. If you aren’t getting full battery voltage, then start looking at your starter button and wire connections. Make sure you are getting full battery voltage through your fuse block. Look for the easy things first.
