Gerry this is the first time I am seeing this thread and after riding with you and seeing your bike, I would have never thought your bike started out the way that it did. I guess it was all that hard work that your daughters put into it... :smilie_happy:

As far as the paint results, you never know what you are going to get until you try some thing new, and if it doesn't work out, just buy another can and start over again. :Egyptian: That's what happened to the doors on my faux tank and now I need to stop riding the bike long enough to fix it.
Thanks Brian! The girls did do a great job helping!! I am excited about the paint! I have wanted a nice glossy finish since we started and it looks like I will have it!!

My camera just can't seem to pick up less sun and more gloss! I'm telling you it really does look better than this!

Thanks Guys! I am in the process of converting back to a Standard right now. For this year, the budget has been spent on the windshield, new radio speakers, trailer hitch (no trailer yet...next year) and some minor welding on the side stand and rebuilding the centerstand.

I have spoken with the folks at Color Right paints and next year's project is going to a complete repaint back to Honda Cosmos Black Metallic with OEM decals.

Forgot to update the pics in this thread. I have another thread that is just pics of the restoration changes, but this thread should also have updated shots:

How many gallons of PB blaster did you go through getting those rusty bolts off? lol

Great job, It looks cherry! I am surprised you just threw all of the parts into a bucket like that haha. I guess I am more OCD about that kind of stuff.

Not much PB actually! It really didn't take much effort at all to take the whole thing apart EXCEPT for the carbs, they were totally trashed.

:smilie_happy: The bucket of parts was actually at Joedrum's house! He had taken apart several different bikes and the bike known as the Mongrel was now part of the parts bucket.

I was in Jersey for 5 years. I don't miss that rust. I guess no one rides those things during salt season anyways. I had a few cars that where just painted in rust!
