Hi my name is Mark. I got my first Gold Wing yesterday, it is a 1981 with 56,000 original miles. The bike kind of runs. I paid nothing for the bike it has a leak on the right side head gasket and the fan does not come on, other than that it's a well taken care of bike. I rode it 35 miles and I can tell my seat needs some work and it needs some more pegs.

Thanks for letting me join you all, I'm excited to learn and get on the road with this bike.
This is my ninth bike and only touring bike

Welcome from Southern California! As stated before, if a head gasket is leaking, don't run it unless you need to - it can get really bad really fast! Enjoy the new-to-you toy!

Welcome from North TEXAS DFW area.... you can test the fan by jumpering across the fan thermo switch connector on the right side (from seat).. under the radiator... just above the front belt covers... pop it off the switch and turn bike on.. no need to run it.. off fan comes on the switch may be bad.. if it doesn't run there are other places to check before deciding if the fan, switch or something else may be causing it.. I know when it has power to one wire and jumped to the other the fan should run.. A po by passed the switch and tied wired together.. fans runs all the time.. haven't delved into it to change the switch out yet..
