Been wrenching on Wings for several years, member of several GL sites, but just today stumbled on this one. Always looking for new/more info on Wings, especially the GL1000 and 1100s. I try to steer clear of the ones covered in plastic, too much to remove to get to where I want to be. But I do occasionally work on Aspencades for a couple friends of mine.
I'm an old fart, motorcycle licensed since '61, started out on Cushmans and Mustangs, eventually moved up to Brit bikes. Never owned a Harley, but most everything else. First Honda I ever saw was a '62 Benly, and I have one today. Learning that those little buggers red-lined at over 10K put the jokes away, for many a person. Brit bikes were what everyone gravitated to, until Honda and other Nipponese marks made headway. I still have my '73 Norton, since '75. Sold my last Triumph('75) in '07.
I'm retired, HVAC Master, Industrial Mechanic/Machinist. Worked for 3M Company for 17yrs, then moved to Austin,TX and worked for Motorola for over 8yrs. Moved back to MO in '04. We can ride most of the year here. My place is in the country and it's known as GoldWing GraveYard, being I have so many bikes and projects. Most of the bikes do run! Too many to list here!
Hoping to meet up with fellow Wingers and swap parts, info, stories and lies if need be.

Thanks for the Welcomes and Good Words from everyone. Got a call today from a fellow saying he needed a final drive for an '83 Wing. His seals were out on his. He brought his old drive to me, the "seal" was the shot O-ring on the splined shaft and worn splines on the hub that attaches to the wheel. Got him a replacement O-ring, replacement part for the wheel. Nothing else was needed. Good Day for him.
Then this afternoon, riding my CX650 to the tire store to pay the bill on my tractor tire($240), the voltmeter I installed on the CX started going wacko, not showing a good charge. Sure enough, it was the wires from the stator burnt. Cut out the bad connections and it's back to good. I like voltmeters. CXs don't have them, so I installed one on each of my two. Tells you in a hurry if you have a charging problem.
