Rebuilding can get expensive. Another engine is almost always cheaper and easier. Sometimes, a good engine can be found in a wrecked bike. An engine that spins is always cheaper than a stuck engine that will need work.

Running a mixture of diesel and mm oil from an aquarium pump. Hopefully in a few days she’s free.
Here’s a pic of my last wing I built.

I’m done!!
I have purchased many gold wings over the years and never had issues with a frozen engine! This is my first and my patience is wearing thin! I have soaked the crankcase and even ran an aquarium pump through it for 3 days. I have plugged the exhaust manifold and filled spark plugs holes with penetrating oil, soak that for a week no luck. I even removed the starter . No luck . Next would be to remove the heads but why?? It could be anything. Piston rod bearing, who knows!
Lesson learned to check that the motor turns over before buying.
Will set this aside or sell and just start looking for a running bike.
Mcgovern61 smart man. I’m glad I haven’t dumped too much cash into this 😀

I had similar problems with a 1000 engine. No amount of ATF/acetone/MMO was freeing anything up. Took off the heads and it was obvious which cylinder had sat the longest with a valve open to the atmosphere. A short piece of wood and a few taps with a hammer and it broke the rings loose. Very gentle scrubbing with steel wool and a lot of oil has cleaned up the cylinder walls and the engine turns like a Swiss watch now.
I'm still in the midst of putting the heads back in order after a thorough cleaning and light valve lapping, so I don’t know where the compression is at, but you may have similar luck.

goldwing engines... they are the Bane of our existence!! @ of my 4 engines....76 - corrosion on lower side of 2 & 3 Cylinders. 81 - Corrosion on cylinder one on the top side of the bore which I thought strange.
Thankfully my my 83 aspy engine and the other 1000 engines bores were ok.
Getting hold of another engine here in OZ is a tad difficult...not many around and of course these old girls are becoming really popular as custom projects. And if you do get a donor engine, there is still no telling what it its going to be like...unless you can hear/see the engine running. It can be an assurance if you have the ability and funds to rebuild an engine and be patient in doing so.

Well, I bought this today . It runs and only cost me $200. I will set the 1100 aside for now.

I bought an '85 Limited Edition carcass for various CFI parts and such:

have just finished the last of the strip which is taking the engine apart, have to transport from Northern Ontario to Victoria BC:
Engine.jpg
Tried turning it over before disassembly but it would not turn. Had a lot of crud in one cylinder preventing it from turning over. Took the heads off and it turned freely. Thinking less than $200.00 CDN to get a good rebuilt engine going.

Don't give up on the 1100.

I’m going to keep the 1100 but I’m busy with my 1200. 88,000 miles and it looks as if someone has been into the clutch which I bled today and she shifts nicely when parked.
Po said he rebuilt carbs but could never get the bike to idle or stay running. Gas tank is surprisingly clean, fuel pump works and I replaced fuel filter. She still won’t idle. I’m leaning towards a single carb which I’ve had great luck with in the past and it’s cheaper than shipping off the carbs !
I’ve decided to go with a totally different design on this one. I guess I should switch over to the 1200 forum .
Later.

I discovered a little issue that was interrupting my fuel flow as well. The base of my petcock was sucking air where it bolts to the tank. It was only noticeable when the fuel level dropped below the petcock (3/4 of a gallon down from full, maybe?). It did not leak fuel, but it did make a whistling sound a road speed. Rebuilt the petcock, planed it and used new base seals, problem solved! Petcock air leaks can apparently cause some weird side effects, lol!
