At work today I got a call and like always I let it go to voicemail which I check after work because I'm just too busy taking care of folks. However today I felt compelled to check the voicemail thinking it was just another reminder to go to Concentra for the evaluation of my latest blood labs, long story short I was exposed to Hepatitis C while giving mouth to mouth to a full code patient under my care that day, no worries I will not contract Hep C, just precaution stuff.

Anyway, this nice lady told me she needed to talk to me regarding my being an heir to some mineral rights from my Great Great Great Grandfather in Texas. o_O Apparently my Great Grandfather's Great Grandfather owned 40 acres of land outside of the Dallas Fort Worth area. He sold this land but retained 50% of the mineral rights that through his will passed down to his heirs. All this is from the early thirties.

I called the lady back when I got home and I am in fact the owner of the mineral rights to 1/70 of twenty acres...under which has been found an enormous pocket of natural gas. One that is likely to never run out in the foreseeable future. There are even plans to drill deeper for oil o_O. She explained how she found me through my mothers cousin. There were 11 children sired by this distant Great Grandfather. The lady told me she has been searching for his heirs for the last 8 months and "my" Great Grandfather's heirs were the last and final ones to be found. The wells are already producing royalties, royalties that as soon as my paperwork is filed will be generating checks to me for the rest of my life and any hairs I produce or anyone I will the rights. We talked about affidavits and leases, Janet will be required to sign an affidavit that she has knowledge my close family that have passed before me had no wills which they didn't and then I sign the lease.

Wondering if this is a scam? I was, and the lady said I will never incur any costs or fees in this process. Besides, she really knew so much about my family explaining how she had to use Ancestry.com to find many of the heirs. She also knew things that only my mom's cousin could know.

Guess I have reason to make a will now, this has the potential to be very lucrative for "my" heirs. w00h00!

I hope it all works out for ya. It certainly sounds scamish, Look out for fee`s or something to come later on, It seems to me if you`s entitled to production royalties you should get a check for prior and current production right off the bat and that may be where the hook is set and they start reeling you in. .Something like "OK we have a check for you but you have to pay a fee or tax then we will send you the check.
But I`m a sceptic at heart..I hope it`s real for you.

I hope it's the real deal, Randy. There ARE a ton of new natural gas wells being drilled around here, so that part, at least, is true. However....there are also a LOT of concerns about contamination of the water tables, and the effects of the drilling related to the unusual number of earthquakes that have happened here recently. There is talk of shutting down any future drilling, or production....

Good Luck tho....it might be legit! Fingers crossed! :beg: :clapping: :good:

I would have an attorney involved and be sure all of the paperwork is legal and legit! Could be true, but if there is a lease involved for a parcel of land that can produce income and there may be other rights involved, get an attorney!

Randy, I hope it's real. That would be amazing!

However, the scammers often times are collecting information, date of birth, signatures, S.S # etc, to steel identity.
Be VERY careful here. DO NOT give them ANY sensitive information.
Mailing address is ALL I'd give them but even that I'm hesitant.

Think about it, seemed to know a lot about such and such........That don't mean jack.
All easy stuff to find, especially of someone that's used those ancestry sites.

Talk to an attorney. Many have free consultation.

If it's legit, the deal will be there tomorrow. Don't rush into anything!

This happened to my step dad a few years ago. He gets his royalty checks once a quarter. The amount varies on how much stuff they pump out of the ground.

I looked into the company Burnett Shale out of Johnson County Tx. They are using the fracking method to extract the NG from the shale. It seems the ground water can be and is an issue. There are about 5 counties involved with the most NG being under the DFW area. where they are drilling sideways to get to the NG. Even though I really don't think it is a scam I'm going to take the advice to have the paperwork looked at by an attorney.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll keep ya posted as I go through this process.

This is the process that the compaines are using in up-state PA. There are a lot of what used to be poor communities now rolling in the money.

Yeah! However I read one company in Pa. was shut down because contamination of a water well caused it to explode. Have you heard anything about that?

O If I remember right they were not shut down because of the explosion but rather for failure to follow their own safety protocol. That was several years ago, so I am not so sure any more. I know when I go up state for deer season, it isn't the same place I went to 10 years ago.

~O~ should we be calling ya Jed from now on :hihihi: :hihihi: :hihihi: but really hope it works out in your favor :good: :good:
