I have only pulled a starter on an engine that was out of the bike and it came out and popped in no problem. I understand that leaning the bike over does keep the sprocket in place, but others will be along who have actually done this.

it wont br long your gona know everything about the goldwing as anybody else.. yeah the starter thing is realy tuff ...one bad move and it could be a big deal

good luck randy and dont make any forceful moves it dont go like that its just got to fall in place everything else is a bind.....

Well that took all of about 15 minutes. Cant believe I waited so long to replace the starter. I just greased the O ring a little and popped it right in. The old one dragged for the last 4 years, but always started the bike. Was getting worse though.
