Hi all,

alot going on here lately, some new parts coming in makes it feel like christmas :D
after alot of work gettin the wing back together and running last year I got the take the wife for her first bike ride.
after a few rides (getting progressively longer each time) she decided she enjoys riding. and wants to ride more this season..
so we put some money into the bike this year, and I'm hopeing to have some real nice rides.

like I said, alot of things getting attention this spring... "going led" "total carb rebuild" "nice new seat!!" "fixing up radio system"..... etc.
one thing she ask for was a intercom of some sort...
I have seen a nady system that fits the budget well... but I wanted to ask some seasoned riders for the opinions...

so heres the question...
not having a bunch of money to spend..
we like open face 3/4 helmets.
the bike isn't stock exhaust, just slightly louder.
I have many options available and would like your input.
what your recommendation for a intercom system?

I only have experience with the Chatterbox.
It's worked OK but what I dont like is they require using their special cables and headsets because of the noise cancelling feature.
I guess that's ok but I dont like being forced into paying extra for something.

As with most things, electronic especially, you get what you pay for.

Which ever you get make sure you can plug in a mp3 player because that's the next toy you'll want for long trips.
Also it should have the option to connect to the bike power. I had to get a new battery for mine after the first year.

J&M makes one that mounts on the left bar which also has CB built in. CB is nice when riding in groups especially other GW riders since they use CB. https://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=38
It's pricey but my advise is dont go cheap on the system because you'll end up not being happy with it.

Ive tryed and wasted money on a couple different intercom systems, including a nady, before buying the J+M DOU2003 unit dan is reffering to.
I love it.
The CB is priceless when riding with friends, the intercom works wonderful, and mine is wired to accept the stereo.
All on seperate volumes.I even had a cord made for a third set in the sidecar.

Yes it is pricey by the time you get the headsets and all,but sierra electronics sems to be one of the best priced dealers for J+M.

Thanks guys.
just not sure if I can spring for that much this year.. got alot of other stuff going on..
not tryin to be cheap, but need some cash left over for gasoline :D

seriously Thanks for the responses. I'll probably buy the J+M unit next year tax's or maybe this summer.

anybody seen a totally wireless solution? like helmet to helmet wireless?

The chatterbox system can be used bike to bike, so I'd say that it's a pretty good wireless sytem. I don't know what the price is on the JM system but the chatterbox is $250 + depending on which version you pick.
