I would eventually like to turn this one into the show bike.
No where on the bike does it say Aspencade, but this is the color code I found for that year ,Harvest Gold Metallic YR115M. The only model that carried that color for that year. What do you think?

This pic doesn't show all the great features, but I will post more once I get started on her. The 82 Interstate behind "Goldie" is "Red". She doesn't need as much work and she runs!

That certainly isnt the paint Honda used, Too much metalic and big metalic at that..That`s the stuff we used back in the 70`s and was/still is pretty cool.
If you want to show it that kind of paint will work. Looks like a fun project.

Yeah, the flakes are big! Sucker must've looked nice brand new! And I do like the color. Has a lot of chrome that needs to be redone. I think that will be the part of the project that will take the longest. I wonder if gold plating would trick it out better. I'll have to photoshop that idea.

Could it have been a special edition?

I believe you have a dressed up Standard there. The horns and radiator side scoops are both Standard only features. Also, your fairing and trunk are not original, and the shelter (false tank) has the HONDA emblem on it, which only came on the Standard. Still a cool lookin' bike!

The VIN plate on the steering head will say GL1100, GL1100I, or GL1100A. The I is for Interstate, and the A is for Aspencade.

Thanks for the info Steve. You are correct my friend, just checked it and she is a dressed up standard. Now I have to change the title to this post, lol. I did want to put a question mark on the topic. I had a feeling something off because the mirrors are on the handlebars.

Very interesting custom.
Is that a Pacifico fairing?

And what is that thing sticking forward under the radiator?

I have no idea what kind of fairing it is. It does have a 70's kinda look to it though.
Well according to a previous post, that is a radiator scoop.

FYI....that is a Pacifico Fairing.

Thanks Gerry. Other than appearance, do you know if there is anyway to check the brand on these?

My Grand dad had a Pacifico fairing on his GW. You can see it in the pic I posted. I believe it was a "shadow classic". If my memory is correct, there is a ID plate on the lower left, your false tank my be blocking the view.
Just for kicks, that's my dad on the left of frame. 1980, I was 20. LOL

Well, with a little surfing it seems that would qualify as a chin fairing, flippin thing is huge!

So, I reluctantly sold this project and the running 82 Aspencade a few months back. I had to whittle down the clutter in my garage. I'm kicking myself in the pants, but I had too many items in the fire. On a good note, it got me working on my 1980 now that there is room to move around.
