And I completely understand why their calledd uggs, the boots are UGLY!!!!!!!!!! :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Sorry folks...it's the same guy over and over. It's been cleared out. This stuff is coming in at 2-3-4 in the morning(here), so it's hard for us to catch all of it.
Someone needs to get a life, eh? :Awe:

I've been finding it for a while too around 4am. PM Dan the name, in this case it's ererty and Dan can use admin controls to ban the spammer. Our site is very active and that is what draws them, they don't spam dead forums.

~O~

The(same) IP has been banned several times already. This stuff is coming from China, and they've found a way to get around the IP issue.... :Awe:

Yeah, these spammers are pretty clever. Apparently they have multiple I.P's. and have various ways of slipping past bans.
All this software comes out of China anyway so it's no surprise they find a way around it.
About the only thing we can do is keep banning the I.P's and keep a close watch.
At least it's not Porno.

This stuff has been coming in here for over a year, that I know of. It's ALL coming from the same place, too.
As a reference, take a gander at this info on the person/company:
XXXX is a domain controlled by two nameservers having a total of six IP numbers. Some of them are on the same IP network. XXXX has one IP number. XXX.cn, XXX.com, XXX.cn, https://www.XXX.cn, XXX.cn and at least five other hosts point to the same IP. XXX.cn, XXX.tv, XXX.com, XXX.cn, XXX.com and at least 56 other hosts share nameservers with this domain. https://www.XXX.org are subdomains to this hostname. XXX.org is ranked #1650139 world wide and is hosted on a server in China. Privacy and child safety of this site is very poor. (more on reputation).
(the actual names have been XXXed by me)

This is why we have a hard time blocking the guy....and it appears to be a human, NOT a bot, doing this. I may be wrong, but I believe it is one person.
If anyone sees what appears to be gibberish, or unsolicited ads in a thread, Please let Dan, roncar, myself, or omegaman, know, so we can kill it before someone DOES click on a link in one of the posts. Once someone clicks on the links, it will recognize where it came from, then it has us as a valid site, and we'll REALLY get hammered! :sensored: :sensored: :sensored:
Thanks!!

I have noticed a sudden increase in spam the last couple weeks, and some of it is getting past the filters. So how do I know it's from this site so I can let you know?

As a rule, I don't mess around with anything that I'm sure is spam. If there's nothing about it that looks familiar to me I delete it without a thought. But I still open and read paypal spoofs and such, but when I realize what I'm looking at it gets deleted on the spot.

Huh??

You shouldnt be getting any "spam" from CGW.
Email notifications yes, but that is not spam.

If it is a bot doing this then you could set up one of those capcha things where they have to type in random numbers and letters in order to register, that should stop the bots

:Awe: I hate spammers :sensored:

Captcha has been in place all along so we figger this has to be a live person.
If it was a bot I would think the spam would come in alot faster.

All of this spam is coming from China so what we do now is review every account right away, if it comes thru China we ban the I.P address and delete the account. Members here that have been sending me an email or PM has helped catch it quickly, that and we get an email whenever someone registers.

When I started the forum the first time we had spam similar to this, it didnt last long.

It's important that nobody click on any of the links in those posts, that may prolong the problem.

If you set up the spam filters correctly you should be able to block a complete domain instead of just IP's. I have a lot of them blocked by domain on my Netgear router as well as separate Ip's and url's.

I block known spam domains and if it's coming from China it doesn't bother me if an innocent IP gets blocked as there's nothing in China I want to see anyways.
