I have an 85 Interstate. While riding down the interstate here in NY I had the electrical system just shut down, Like I turned off the key. By the time I coasted to the shoulder the power was back on and on I went. It did it to me a few times today. I just put a new battery in. It has really hot and humid here the last few days. Any ideas, or then the ignition switch??

Could be loose or bad battery ground. Dirty contacts in ign switch. Or possibly the main fuse on the start solenoid is intermittent contact. In the tech gallery we have manuals with trouble shooting sections that may have other checks to consider

Well here is what I found. This was on the solenoid.

This is what the back side looks like.

This connector was a little bit melted also. I replaced it with a 30A inline fuse holder. I will be able to see if that was the only problem on my way to work tomorrow. Thanks for the help
