to me if your going to use gauges or what ever ... id use just one vac gauge ...method is the same ...just dont get four reading at same time ...after your done going all the way around do it again ... several trips around will fine tune it .....then you can check at different rpms ... if you have a trouble spot at a certain rpm ...thats where id be doing this ...at the trouble spot
 
I have heard some negative feedback on the liquid type as well, dont know if it is user error..Guess the vac gauge may be the way to go. There are some 5 feet tall home made ones I remember seeing, they use transmission fluid if I recall, and only clear tubing is required and mounted to construction board. Bunch more styles out there, some use jars and tubing.
 
I have been using these gauges for more than 7 years with great success! I can tell you that it doesn't get any easier than to watch how all 4 gauges react to every change.

+1 mine are 2 sets of 2 which I just join together :good:
 
thanx,, snappy,, goes down road like a banchee, just doesn't sound right at idle,, I forgot, 850-950,, which I used,, or 950 to 1050,, idk, like joe said,, bad spot.... I already messed w/it,, so probly have to redo,, i'll go put another hundred on and go see barb,, lol.
