I'm an experienced rider that got the bug to buy a Goldwing.
I've been looking at:
1992 Goldwing SE for $6500
1986 Goldwing for $1500 but needs $3000 to certify
1998 GW for $7500

Any advice on what to look out for would be appreciated.
I'm from Toronto, Ontario.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to learning lots from you all.

and whats noob stand for ?

Copied from the interweeb - short form for newbie "A noob or n00b is someone that lacks intellegance or common sense, most people think that noob is a word used only in the online gaming world, but in reality it is becoming an ever popular word with teenage society.
a noob could be simply a level 100 running round shouting ''WTF DO I GO!?'' or someone calling someone else a noob and then getting hit with a brick, anyone can call anyone a noob, but normally they are noobs themselves "

I am the guy in the link above selling my bike. I am 2 hours from Port Huron---I could easily ride or trailer the bike if you seriously want to see it. For $1100 you get a bike that needs very little to make perfect. You also get a lot of extras. I really prefer selling it to an enthusiast, but if I can't I will put it on CL.
Thanks,
Simba

Maybe I should mention that I need a backrest for my 5yo son

Would a five year old be able to reach both footrests at the same time and do they make DOT helmets that small?

I would NOT put a 5yr old behind me on any motorbike. I did not like my kids with me on my riding mover over crazy terrain. If this is for fun bonding stuff, don't do it. If it is for budget reasons, please don't do it.

hello mudgts, welcome to CGW. i would spend the $7500 and get the '98 if its an aspencade or se. i would also see if i could get him down some on the price

thanks. it's just a pricey investment but I imagine that it would be worth it as bikes do hold their value better then cars.

My wife won't let me put the kid on the bike but I still want one. What is a good age to get a kid on a bike? 9? 10?
Different in other Provinces but in Ontario he has to fit (and they mean securely) a DOT helmet and both feet have to be on the foot rests level. I have heard (online) of a licence suspension for a couple that squeezed their child between them with only a bike helmet on.
Thats just the legal aspects as far as individual children are concerned I would olny let him on the back of mine if he had a mini bike or something that can show he keeps balance and understands riding.
