After a month or two of tracking down and negotiating with the previous owner I have just became the proud owner of a 1975 honda CB400F SS.
I have always wanted one of these since back when I was accually small enough to ride it.
This one will need alot of work, but should be a fun project for the boy and I.He is getting to that age where these things are even more important to do together than ever.

These where taken at the barn,as it first saw daylight.

I commented before the pictures were posted, yeah looks like a real project but it's going to be fun seeing it as it's all cleaned up.
At least it looks like there isn't a lot of rust.

It looks like it is in good shape to me. A good cleaning will make a world of difference. Post some more pics after you use the pressure washer on it !

Nice find it looks like it should clean up pretty good. I had to smile when I saw the pull backs and Highway pegs, back when everyone threw them on and thought they had a chopper.

Yeah,I got fooled by the bars and rack at first thinking it was maybe a CM.It was pretty dark in there when I first saw it and I almost left, then I realized there was no exhuast on the left side. The sexy pipe was a dead give a way,and I had to pull it out more into the open for a closer look.I got pretty excited when I realized it was a F bike.

Its pretty incased in goat crap,we will see how it looks after a good scubbing.
The hardest part was convincing the PO of the drier straights the bike was in,hes not from around here and said in was fine when he left it in his uncles barn 10 years ago.
"Did you start it while you where there?" he asked me. I had to E-mail PICs to him

Lets hope goat crap makes a good cacoon. :beg:

my first ever New bike was a 1973 350-4 Honda , and I think 1975 was the first year of the 400-4 and the exhaust on that bike is stock. I Love it ....... gonna make a Beautiful bike., :music:

Nice find! :good: You made me re-think about getting another project Wing. There's one I've been thinking about but it would be nice to get a hold of one like yours (yours is an exceptional find) and fix it up. Have fun and looking forward to your progress reports and pictures.
:salute:

no pics of a cleaned (power washed) bike yet? I for one would like to see whats under that gawdawful mess. :salute:

When I was in high school, my neighberhood friend bought that one. I wish I could have bought it too. I was riding tiny CB50 back then.

Beautiful 4-1 headers.
The reason why I have this 3-1 on my XS750.

So you are going to put proper Eurobar or superbikebar, correct?
That pullback thing has to go.

Yes,the bars have to go.As well as the highway pegs and luggage rack.I will need to find the right bars with the holes for the electrical. The wires run inside the bars. Not sure yet how they streched them out.

I picked it up tonight, and powerwashed it right at the farm before I left. Not as bad as I thought, but worse than I hoped(If that makes cents) Everything is free,linkage,carbs,motor,clucth....

Sorry, dead batterys in camara,no PICs tonight.I will try to post some tomorow.

Wow! That cleaned up nice so far. I must agree about those bars. Dirt bike bars would be better looking and more comfortable. :smilie_happy:
