New member here. I just acquired a 78 GL1000 from a friend who thought it would be a good project for him. Him without tools or mechanical ability. Well long story short he bought one that is complete and gave this one to me. FREE! :yahoo: I received the project last night. One partially disassembled motorcycle and three boxes of parts. I know right off the bat I will be needing some slip on pipes, throttle and clutch cables, and some miscellaneous other parts oh and tires. I don't see anything major missing so that is good.

Anyway here is a pic of my new beauty.

I have to say one of the best parts of this deal is that a couple weeks ago before I got the bike and the boxes he rode to town(3 hours) to deliver me the carbs and intake from within the side bag of his 79 wing. What a smarta**. Can't wait to get my hands dirty. Been a long time since I rebuilt a bike.

Welcome to the forum..I think what you have is an earlier model, Maybe `76 or `77. The wheels and color(ruby red). Either way good luck with your new project, lots of help here.

Welcome to the site from New Jersey! :clapping:

My bike was also FREE! (Except some $3500 later to be safely restored for heavy road service!) No such thing as free! :hihihi:
