Been riding harleys for years and decided to add a vintage goldwing to my collecion. Its a 1980 Interstate with 12400 miles. Friend bought from original owner, got it running and painted it. I bought is and went to change timing belts and found other issues that are age and neglect related. So here i am learning about these bikes and it looks like there is some good info here.

Im in central florida and ride year around.

Thanks to all
Joe I ride with a guy who lives in Seminole Woods, Geneva. Know your area well also.

I bought the GL1100 with the idea of turning it into a bobber but after riding it some i decided to keep it mostly as is. I do however plan to use saddle bags only and will re mount them with a more stream line look and a little lower. also plan to put solo seat on it and with that may have to change back fender and lights to make it look and function better.

Right now have to deal with the moderate engine issues which are due to it sitting around for decades. I have the front of the motor torn down and waiting for parts. Going to bead blast all the stuff i took off an repaint while waiting for parts to come.

Good luck on your project, seen a few custom baggers made from interstate`s..They can be made to looks real nice in that style.
