Have you looked at ebay? There are several 1000 piston sets with bearings there now. If you find any with no copper showing and your brown color codes, they should be good to go. How do your lower (rod cap) bearings look? They don't wear as much as the uppers do. Find a decent used set and use the lowers from it as well.
