The weather was kinda nice most of the week at work, so I had planned to ride on Saturday. But it rained overnight and we were still drying out from the recent storm. The roads are still kinda saturated, and there is sand and rocks scattered across the road in many places. There were many clouds in the sky and the smell and feel of possible scattered showers in the air, but a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. So when mama had to run an errand I took the opportunity to jam! Afterwards I had to figure out how to fit a 2 hour ride into a 10 minute Youtube. So I focused on the one road and cut that to fit. This is Highway 229. It runs north & south from Highway 58 just east of Santa Margarita to Highway 41 just out of Creston, east of Atascadero. Forward is the Sony Handycam mounted on the engine guard and the rear view is the GoPro Wide mounted under the bottom of the trunk set to record upside down. Audio is from the rear camera, since the forward camera was picking up mostly wind and squeeks from the front brakes. Sorry, but I just don't have the gonads to scrape the footpegs on the curves. Guess I'm getting old and fat.
Just some feedback for future videos, do you think the PIP idea works, or do you think it's mostly in the way of the forward view?

Video is very smooth!

I like the PIP. That would be cool when riding with a group.

I thought that was a one way road until the car came along in the other direction.
Rare to see a road without a center line.

Looked like it was a beautiful day.

I Love it , and yes the sound is music to my ears , I can't wait to rebuild my Carbs and get mine sounding like that.

Want to say
Thank You Bro,
its 27 here currently and we're expecting more snow today..
but this really made my day.

only problem is when wife came home she wanted to know why the bike was in living room in front of the big screen :D

Thanks again...
Awsome vid.

:thank_you:
Tell her...er, "invite" her to get on, sit down, shut up, and hang on!

I like the PIP! I just wish my engine sounded like that! Now I really know how bad mine sounds!! For anyone that is interested, do not put an '81 engine into an '82 frame with '82 rear and wheels! It sounds like your never going over 3550 rpm! For those same speeds mine would be up in the high 4000's.

From what I understand. the 4's ain't a bad place to be.

I usually attemp to stay above 3k. These curves saw some 2k's, and maybe close to 5mph, while the straights would see upwards of 4k (sometimes shift @5k) and 65-70ish mph. Then I had to slow down again for more curves cause I'm chicken. My rear gear was salvaged from an '81. (so I was told by the salvager) I didn't notice any difference?

iwent for a ride today it was petty cold. its amazing the wide gearing changes you can come up with parts mixing 1100 and 1000 series bikes. anyway itook my bike up to 80mph for a moment and the rpm was just getting in the 4000rpm range. before putting in the 80 final drive it was 70mph at 4200 rpm. 1st gear is alittle stout but no more shifting in the middle intersection while turning.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll put that on the list of places to ride. I haven't been out there in at least a year. I also want to do the road through Parkfield.

Great video and sound. Looks like a really nice ride. Not too sure about the pip though. Hard to see 2 at the same time. :clapping: :clapping:
