I bought a Odyssey Battery just about a year ago.

My new battery will not take a charge, and is down to 8 volts but will not hold a charge.

I had their battery on a battery tender.

I called Odyssey, since they have a two year warranty.

They say they wont honor their two year warranty.

What the hell good is any warranty if they wont honor it.

Big warranty, but they WONT stand behind it.

I am assuming they are saying you charged it with a unit other than an Oydessy charger hence no warranty?

I'm curious to hear the details too since I have an Odyssey.

That is one battery source now off my list!

I wouldn't be so quick to mark them off the list.
I have one of their chargers I thought was running more than it's suppose to. They sent me a new one and payed shipping both ways.
It still seems to run more than it's suppose to.
When I contacted them they said to ship both the battery and charger. If either was found defective they'd pay shipping both ways and replace which ever was the problem free with no prorate.
I never followed up with this but I think that's pretty darn good support.

That support would be great. However it seems to have slipped recently if they won't honor the warranty.

Yes but what are the details?

Did he cook it with a 50 amp manual charger?

Was it being charged by more than 15 volts?
Odyssey specifically says more than once in the instruction sheet with the battery 15 volts and higher will void the warranty.

I've never heard of a battery tender that could over charge or produce enough amps to harm a battery but I suppose it may be possible. It may be though the battery is simply dry.

Hey guy's after I wrote that post about the Odyssey Battery I did some research on AGM batteries and did some testing of my own.

AGM Batteries Are Great!!!!! Very durable, BUT!!!!

They are different, and need to be treated as such

I was unaware that these batteries were so durable and needed to be shocked to wake them up, they actually coat them selves internally when they get below a certain voltage (8 volt's for the Odyssey) the guy i talked to said it need to be charged at 10 amps if it were under 8 volts, to get up above 10-volts, this shock removes the internal coating so that it would accept a charge.

After it gets above 10 volts then drop the charge rate down to 2 amps to top off the battery to a full charge.

My smart charger kept giving me a will not accept a charge code, this means that the battery was dead, I tried a standard charger too, but 2 amps would not charge it, nothing.

Please see my New Topic/post in the electrical section Regarding the way to get AGM batteries back from the dead

NICE!!!
