I'm baaaaack...!! I signed up for this site years ago because I was a former 1975 Wing owner (crashed in '89..86,000 miles) and haven't replaced it due to costs and raising a family. Now, I'm retired...kids are gone and my good friend of 40 years (we bought our Wings together as a package deal and rode together for many years) died of cancer. He restored his '75 Wing to stock condition. He wanted me to have it after he passed....so now, I've got a stock, restored, rebuilt 1975 Blue Wing in perfect condition.. I've ridden it a few times and after 24 years...it's taking me a bit to get used to riding again. I live in Colorado and took it up into the mtns for about 100 miles... It brought back a lot of memories. So now, I'm the proud owner of his bike. Attached is a pic. I'm not sure what to do with it cuz due to my wreck, my back can't seem to hold up to long rides. Anyway, I'll be checking on this site more. Who knows...I might want to sell it and move on... Getting old is hell...riding isn't as much fun as when I was in my 20's and 30's.

It's good to be back.

Welcome back, and sorry to hear about your buddy. I restored a '75 way back in '93, and it was a sweet bike. Hopefully, you'll be able to get plenty of enjoyment out of yours!

Welcome back to the best classic Goldwings forum. Sorry about your friend. Now that bike is a silent witness to your friendship.

Greetings from the Sunshine State.

Live long and prosper. God bless you.

Welcome to Classic`s.. I know the bike and story behind it, It is a nicely done and well maintained bike. If you sell it you sell it but I really think the 75-76`s are going to go up considerably in value. Many early wings are being junked/scrapped and parted and I really think it is a good investment to hang onto.
I ride and my old bones sometimes hurt but for me it is therapeutic to ride, keeps the mind sharp and gives a general feeling of well being.

How did you know about the bike? Do you have any info on what and when things were done? I didn't want to bother him while he was dying....it was tough....I knew him since high school...over 40 years.

I try to ride it once a week....just to keep things moving. Timing belts recently changed, I keep the gas tank full (add a bit of MMO) but I worry about having a flat. It runs great, so I'm not concerned about it breaking down...he was a perfectionist when it came to rebuilding. I'm not sure I could change a tire anymore....but I've got "1-800-come-get-my-ass" on my insurance...but it would still be a hassle. The value of the bike is only realized when it's sold. I'm thinking of hauling it to upstate NY this fall (if my wife can make up her mind about moving there or not). Great roads up there.

That is Fewman old bike if I`m not mistaken, He would have maintained it like a fine swiss watch so I doubt there is anything pressing to do as far as maintenance. Go through his post`s over at NGWF he was registered as Fewman there and you can learn allot about that bike by going through his old post`s.

zman: You're right....it's Fewman's bike. I'm a member at NGW, too. I've gone thru all his posts....and I'm amazed at the care and precision he used in the restoration. But, in the 40 years I knew him, he was always like that in everything he did. You ought to have seen his toolboxes. Talk about organized !! His step kids got all his tools and his bike stand. That's ok....like I said, my wrenching days are pretty much done. Change oil, put on a touring seat and small windshield...ya...that's abut it. I'm always looking for more information about what and when he did things to it.

Yea..I think you have a real good bike there and it is an investment.
He was a member here for a short time and has a few post`s, just look his name up in the members list, as well he was over at Steve Saunders for maybe 7 post`s but mostly at NGWF. I think some post`s he listed his miles at which he did things on the bike so go through them all and you can get some idea of when things were done.

Keep those wheels turning as much as you can possibly manage :good: :moped: :good:

zman: Yep...those movies were taken by Fewman (8mm) and I converted them to digital and posted them to YouTube.
