This is for my curious mind.

I happened to encounter the attached photo. It is taken in Hokkaido, Japan.
Apparently spinning wheel and snow and cold temp. formed it.

I wonder this is common all over the world. I lived in NY state for 10 years but never seen it.

seen stuff similar to that - I suppose if the wheel is spinning slow enough that can form thing that makes me wonder if it is real is where did the moisture come from if the wheel was upright. I vote Photoshop!

I can say it is real.
I have been looking his "blog" for several years now and he is not the type who does photoshop fake.

He is a service tech and often drives to the sites for several hours. I imagine it's fairly slow (30~40 MPH?). So that speed and long hours of continuous drive and maybe humidity (by the ocean) forms it?

Not a world wide phenominon it seems, then.

I'm thinking you would have to feel that in the stearing wheel.

It's just a strange shaped icicle so probably makes no differece to the steering.
But it's really strange shape. It looks as if it is from SiFi movie..

Are you sure this "Service Tech" is not an alien?

That is from a Jamesodo Bondsasawki's special car. It is a Ninja star to ward off enemies. Not available in the US yet.

:smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Or from one of those cars from Mad Max?

I was seriously curious though... :hihihi:

I was thinking that the weight would throw the balance off.

Here is another one. This one is from a truck that hauls on the ice roads in northern Ontario. They travel at slow speeds also, usually a maximum of 50 kph or 30 mph.

Thanks!
This is what I was looking for.

I wonder if there are people who research these things...

I hope not...lol. This picture was taken last year at the James Bay. That's a little bit further north than Sudbury. I hope not to see a picture like this of a motorcycle tire. :rocks:

Happens in the spring around here (northern Minnesota), all it takes is a decently warm day, somewhere around 32F, wet slushy snow, and rotation. It is formed from the spray of other vehicles you meet on the road sticking to your wheels and being moved by the rotational force until it freezes.
