I have been looking for a decent pair of Radiator air deflector scoops.

I need two pairs One for my 83' GL11 & one for my 86' GL12

Both Bikes are Naked so these parts would have to perfect or very close to it, since they are exposed, I can paint them myself.

The OEM ones I have seen at my local cycle salvage are usually not in good shape, same with Fleece bay

I would like to have some new ones, anybody making these or I would make some my self, I have searched but have not been able to find anything.

Honda calls them a Radiator Cover

Anyone make their own?

Just an idea I had but haven't had time to try yet, I wanted to make a set out of some busted up interstate lower fairing covers. I think you could cut a set out of the lowers and mount them without to much trouble.

My first thought was to use a piece of 4" dia. Black PVC from Home depot.

Then cut it in half down the length with my chop saw.

Then look at the shape of it,

If the shape is not quite right put it in a 150-200 degree oven to slightly soften, then shape between two 2x10" squashed together to get the right shape.

I'll try the PVC as a LAST!!! Resort.

I want something looks decent and i dont think the PVC is it.

I may just go with some sheet metal and see if I can get it to come out decent

Thanks for the suggestion mike.

I would have to check with my local cycle salvage to see if they have a damaged one I could have cheap

The lowers mod would be easy. Make one cut and use the stock bolt locations to hold them on. The stock lower cross piece would work also. You could trim the side in front of the three engine scoops off to what ever look you wanted and the front is already formed. I'm going to make a set as soon as I get time from the busted up lowers of a 84 1200. These pics are from 86 1200 lowers just to help show what I'm talking about. Good luck.

If you find some be sure and get the metal mounting tabs that go on the lower radiator studs. Good luck.

Here's my home-made set-up. Works really well, too. It was originally a lower air dam(spoiler) from what I think is a Chevy truck, but I'm not sure where I got it.

There is also a thread on it here.... Another member here also made some out of clear Lexan/plexiglass...worth a look-see if ya wanna search for it. I'll look too.

Hey Mike,

That might work nicely, I see what you are saying, that would be a nice look
