Radio on 1200gl Intersate

Trying to replace the radio on a 1985 Interstate got a PYLE PLR16MUA In-Dash MP3 Stereo Car Audio would a universal radio mounting kit work? If not I'm thinking of mounting it in the left fairing pocket would that work? I don't want to leave the stock radio in it is all beat up and does not work.

The mounting rack does come out.. you have to pull the lower part of the dash (radio mounting/clock/volt meter)... measure your opening on the bike and the opening required for the radio..
