Quick kweschun...
Where can I gits a rebuild kit for the rear master cylinder on my '81 Innystate? I have found the leak I have been chasing....the cylinder is seeping down the pushrod, and dripping on the exhaust, which is apparently burning it off, since I've never seen a drop on the floor....so.....

I like rebuilding with oem whenever posible. :builder:

Sometimes it is worth using a company that can re sleeve the cylinder with a stainless lining. I know of a few different companies that do that here in Brisbane, so hopefully there may be someone like that near you. All the Best

If any of those companies ship and have web sites I for one would appreciate a link. These masters are getting hard to find.

They require your cylinder to re sleeve. The other problem is our dollar is quite high and postage expensive. If you have a spare one and want to look at getting it re done and aren't in a hurry, you could send it to me and I could make enquiries. I will be in the states in Jul-Aug so would bring it with me and post it to you locally. Pm if you need more details. Cheers

I looked on cheapcycleparts' site earlier, and they dint show to have the rebuild kit. They did have a few pieces here & there for it, but I doesn't wanna but it piece by piece...I'll end up without something I really need.
Re-sleeving is an option, of course, but that's only if the cylinder is corroded, or badly pitted. I doubt mine is that bad yet. I think a seal kit will prolly take care of it. I have heard that there are different sizes of the seals and pistons on these things, and I don't wanna get the wrong ones. I guess I'm stuck with taking it apart first....dangit....

When you order, make sure you specify your year model and braking system, which for the '81 will be "separate". I went down that road with the front brakes. I know, ignorance is no excuse for getting ripped off!

'80, '81 & '82 are the same, separate front and rear brakes, it was in '83 they went to the integrated braking system, just make sure your supplier is aware of this, the last thing you want to do is pull that rear cylinder twice.

You are right but no it did not, for the front there are only 2 MC piston diameters, 12mm for the '83 integrated and 14mm for the '80-'82 separate, for the rear it's most likely the same but opposite, I just got lucky and didn't run into all this stuff when I did my rear.
