For the past two and a half weeks I have been basically doing the work of four people by myself... not because of the Government shutdown but rather because a co-worker has been out due to a surgery and also because another department dropped the ball in February on a project that needed to be done by October 20 prior to our facility switching to a new payroll system. I have been racking up a lot of overtime and wearing myself out reviewing the time cards for 327 employees dating back to August 2012 to make sure that these employees received the correct amount of overtime pay. If I had been given this project in February, no sweat, but trying to cram it all into 3 weeks is a stretch. Well tonight I realized that I am on the home stretch and that I and have less than 1/4 of the employees left to do, so getting it done by Sunday will be no problem. How to celebrate???

Yup... take the long way home. It is amazing just how relaxing it can be to ride on a fall evening when the temps are still in the 70's. It is also amazing just how relaxing that ride can be. Sometimes I wish I lived further than 2 miles from where I work, but if I did, then I wouldn't be able to take the long way home on those special occasions.
