Joe has offered an 1100 engine to me and I think I'll take him up on it but I have no idea how to handle the shipping or what the cost will be.

Is there a company will go out to his place in Indiana and crate it or whatever and handle the shipping here to So Cal?

Fed Ex air freight. Drop it off crated at the airport freight terminal and pick it up at your freight terminal. We don't even have bus stations around here except school buses and local in town stuff.

My '83 engine was shipped to me from Minnesota. The cost of the engine was $179.95. I just found my original Ebay receipt and the shipping was actually $160 plus he charged me $25 to crate it up on a pallet. Basically, he got a pallet from wherever and went to a Home Depot (or similar) and bought a 3 pack ratcheting hold down straps and just cranked it down onto the pallet. He shipped it ground on a Less-Than-Load trailer. The driver had a hand pallet jack in the trailer and the trailer had a tailgate. For my money.....it was worth it!

The "Fastest Hound in Town"(greyhound) has weight limits...might not be able to handle a crated 'Wing engine. Any regular freight hauler should be able to ship it reasonably. We have Central Freight here...don't know what youse guys have local, but we ship/receive transmissions from all over the US thru them.

Just because I wasnt sure I read their services section and they will go out and pick it up and deliver it to your door or can be picked up at one of their teminals.

I did not think about weight limets.
I moved a bench seat for a 58 chevy for $40.00 and was tikled pink.I am sure that is lighter than a crated motor.
