What holds them in? :headscratch:

Nothing right now. I took a chance going for a test ride but they stayed in. I think I will make a "snap ring" out of a coat hanger that will fit in the channel at the tip of the tail pipe. Just laying on the couch thinking about it...will get up soon. :lazy: LOL

So I made a couple of retainer rings that fit in the recess on the inside of the flanged end of the tail pipe that should hold the baffles in. I used a regular wire coat hanger. I also took the baffles out to show how I wrapped them with pink fiberglass insulation.
:builder:
It is surprising to me that such a small baffle with a little bit of insulation can make that much difference to the sound.

I tried the same insulation in my KZ 750 twin. It burnt and blew out in just a few miles. I hope yours lasts longer.

I have some rock wool insulation to try but haven't yet. Can't reach my bike from here.
Is that the same as mineral wool? I wonder what that OE stuff was.

Might be the same. I got some left over stuff from work when they repaired on of the big industrial ovens.

I bought good old fashioned muffler wrap insulation to repack mine. It is real cheap, comes in blankets and is the same as OEM. I also learned that as long as the blanket is wrapped around the perforated pipe real well, you do not need to "strap it down" with wire. Mine shoved right into the pipe loose since the outer pipe traps it between the pipe and the perf.
