i wanna know where people get off thinking they have a gold mine on even some of the simplest parts for a bike. some people have broken POS plastic and they wanna sell it for as much as someone who has a brand new piece.

even then....some things simple and new, they want a wad of cash for it even though its not worth it. something like this cracks me up.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-1983-GL11 ... b0&vxp=mtr

Yeah, its old and in good condition...that doesn't make it worth more all the time.

i find all types of things on ebay for my bike that people want an arm and a leg for, and it cracks me up thinking they will sell it at those prices.

Actually its new and in new condition - I bet someone buys it, try to find a new one after 35 years.

Think of how fast you would be going with your Goldwing bling in a chain around your neck

I always call it playing eBay as it is similar to a slot machine, some times you win big and sometimes you don't. Just keep playing you will eventually get what you want :music:

I recall someone asking $250.00 for a grab bar for a 1000. You never know what someone will pay so I guess people have to ask something...

So just what exactly is the hardest to find part for and OldWing????

Absolutely - left side battery cover ..!! Its the first thing I look for when I am buying a parts bike ..!! I charge $200 and they never last long..!

Do they make a right side battery cover?Prices on nearly everything these days are ridiculous. What I find hilarious on ebay is terminology. 83 GL1200 parts. There are side covers. One ( the left ) is the battery cover. The other (the right) is gas tank cover. Battery cover is always lost more often because it's removed most often. Another thing I find amusing is carb parts for sale. Once they sell a few pieces they are stuck with junk no one will ever buy.

No kidding but if someone is selling 83 GL1200 parts it might be a good idea to go elsewhere. For some reason (maybe more are scrapped and available) the GL1100 side panels do not move well - cant get $69 for a pair, the 1200's are a different story. I noticed one guy was making them for a while but they did not look so good and I haven't seen em lately. Carburetor parts are another story - got bags or them sitting on the shelf if i were to start selling each individual part it wouldn't be worth wile - can't sell them because they have parts missing and can't throw them out because .... well i will have to think on that a while..

+1

However I had a set of 1000 carbs (one carb was incorrect) that is mostly gone now having helped 5 people with parts they needed. I too have a hoarder instinct. (Especially with parts made of unobtanium!)

:smilie_happy: YEP! :hihihi:

I take a different attitude, if I got something someone needs and I don't I certainly won't gouge them. If I can help someone out even better. What goes around comes around in most cases.

I may have a battery cover for you, but it will need to be painted.

Me too.
The parts I have I hang on to until I can help someone out.
The side covers I have I'm keeping in case I need them.
