I thought i would share this little tip i was taught years ago by an older mechanic.
I use this on my carb elbows when i'm reinstalling them, on hose fitting, or anything else that needs a little push or fits really tight.....it's really slick, not greasy, cleans up easy with water or a wet rag, and you only have to use a small amout. K_Y JELLY
 
Another good option silicone (gel or spray).
Usually is already around the workshop relatively cheap. Don't "stick" or get sticky.
Most important dust/dirt don't stick to it. :Egyptian:
