:hi: Dose any one else have trouble veiwing the tac and speedo when driving at night???? I do the insterment lights on the 80 give very poor visibility for these poor tired eyes...SOOOOOO I have tried to improvisr a little ....Went to the auto parts store and picked up a blue lightset with 3 lights, that plug into the lighter..seem to give fair results, at least i can read the speed and RPM...eill thst on a few night rides ...If I am satisfied will wire them into the bikes wiring ...Bob

That is very cool! I can see mine at night pretty good, but.....that might be because I replaced all of my gauge light bulbs and they really light up nice! While I was replacing them, I cleaned the inside of the lenses.

:clapping: :eek:k: :good: Looks like that oughta werk!!
I also have a hard time seeing my speedo/tach, even with new bulbs. I'm toying with the idea of replacing the bulbs with LEDs. Thought about the external solution, too, but wondered about the possible glare from the lenses. Is there any glare, or reflection from the lights on those, Bob?

It looks good Bob.

I find the stock lights are enough to see the gauges ok barely.
Something brighter would be nice but maybe all that needs done is bulb replacements and lens cleaning. I'd try that first.

:hi: The only area there is a slight glare is the one that points to the tenp/fule and that can be adjusted..... there are other light sets which can be placed on each insterment that might be a better soluthin may try those later..Bob

My speedo and tech are OK but I can't see the temp and fuel. There is light htere but it is so dim I can't see the gauge needles. Anyone know how to replace those bulbs? :headscratch:

strat just today i work on the gauges of my 82 standard ....it had a bad regulator the 7 volt one for the gauges ...its quite the job ...i had the whole instrument cluster out there are scews in the back to get at everything .....you would have to be pretty motivated to do all the work for a bulb ......my 83 interstate is the same way speedo and tack are fine but the gas and temp lights are out .....seems like the interstate would be tough to do .....

Well I'm going to have to tackle it because I can't see those gauges at night. I have to wait until i pass under a streetlight to get a look at them.

:hi: Well these lights give me the gage visibility that these old eyes need :cool!: ,,,,but there has to be something better :read: ....these plug into the cig. lighter and have a switch on the plug so they can be turned on and off at will. I will keep working on the issue...just not now,,,, have a van engine to reassemble and another 82 wing i want to get running plus I have a friend who needs to install seals on an 83 wing, :builder: ,, which i am trying to negotiate a deal with him for it :head bang: ...I am going to have to stop checking Craigs List...I keep reuunig across these 77 -83 wings for reasonable prices or barters....I have enough Iron around here to start a business :smilie_happy: ......So will limit myself to getting what I have running before I go :fiddle: ....Bob
