Hope this is the correct place to post the question.
I have searched for the information, but have yet to find what I am looking for. My trip meter has broken and parts are rattling around inside the speedometer.
Does anyone have a "how To" for opening up the speedo without damaging the thing? You know...the one for the slow newbie, pictures or video may be helpful too.

Thanks in advance gang

Not that I'm aware of at the moment. I've no clue how to fix anything inside either if a little oil doesn't fix it. Some daring soul here may have done it though so you should be getting better answers from them.

Well, got it opened without damaging the external portion only to find the rod that the numbers are on broken. :head bang: :head bang:
Guess I will be looking for a replacement speedometer. I may try repairing this one, but fear that any repair may not hold up to daily forces that would be place on those parts.

Can you tell us how you got it apart? Mine has smears inside the lens that is either factory or someone has opened it in the past.
Thanks.

Yes there are pictures as well.
Hopefully posting that link does not violate any rules.
Treekiller, thanks for the link but I think I'll just live with my smudge a while longer. Looks like a lot of places where a guy could go wrong. :swoon:
