GL1100 the threads are stripped where the lower fairing attaches. The two top nuts are stripped. I have tried a tap to clean them out but they are too buggard up to get the tap thru.

I have thought about grinding the nuts down and putting new one there. Not sure if welding them back on is possible.
Have also thought about heli coils.

Also thought about drilling out the nuts and placing new nuts behind and using jb weld to hold them in place.

??????Any thoughts????

I know someone else has had this problem.

Thanks for any input.

Maybe you can find suitably sized self tapping bolts? You'll probably have to fit them the first time with the fairing removed. You can drill them out for larger through bolts but the nuts may back off without good lock washers or LocTite.

Run a 1/4X20 tap in the holes and pick up some new screws at the hardware store.
