POR 15 is another good method.

I found it interesting that they provide instructions on how to remove defective/flaking POR 15. I guess just trying to up-sell their product.

I've been using POR15 for about twenty odd years and haven't ever had it flake. In fact it is usually tougher than powder coat but it does require proper prep and application. I've been using it to coat the inside of custom auxiliary sidecar tanks with no problems.

Got this one from a Guzzi forum I use. Apparently it is also being used in plastic tanks to solve the Ethenol problem.

I used it to seal my IT175's plastic gas tank.
The outside was miserable after so many years under the sun so I painted it just to find out gas vapor escapes through plastic and attacks paint. I coat the outside also just in case then painted again. So far (several months) it is holding up although I now take a precaution to remove the gas from the tank and leave the cap open in my garage.

I also used POR15 but it only works with metal tanks.
