Bummer.

That usually happens if the small bolt is tightened before the large bolts have completely seated the head to the gasket.
I believe it could be welded with the head removed.

That stinks. It'll leak like a seive if you don't do it right. I had one just like it on a 1200.

That part of the head is oil soaked, making it very difficult to get a leakproof weld. Yes, I experienced the same thing on an 1100 and finally just replaced the head.

My crack was caused by some dummy not realizing the bottom bolt was there and trying to pry the head off with the bolt still in place.

I’ve got JB on it currently - giving it time to cure then we shall see what happens. As long as it holds for the time being I’ll be straight.

I found a 1200 head in Vince's parts at Hanni's yesterday (just one head)...I didn't examine it really closely but it seemed to be in good shape. Let me know if you're interested and I can check it out in a week or two when i go back

If you are looking for a head, and haven't sourced one yet, you might want to consider a head off an '85 LTD or '86 SE-i FI model. I mention this because of the position of the Gr/Gl senors (PG sensors on the non FI Models). A fellow over on the NGW site took an '85 LTD FI Model and converted it back to carbs - did a very nice job, and used the GR/Gl sensor position to install a C5 ignition. I’m going to need a head but I’m cleaned out for the time being; bastards who own my house raised my rent this month due to some nonsense Georgia property tax so I’m strapped until I get paid again ha!
