Tire load ratings for Goldwing

Tire shopping time! What are the minimum load ratings I should look for? An Interstate with 2 people can easily hit 1100 lbs. but that doesn't mean both tires carry that. OTOH I don't think you can just split it 50/50 either. I've tried searching online but can't find them. Even the owner's manual doesn't give me the info. I could just look at the tires I have now but I have no idea if they are correct.

Look up Bridgestone Spitfire S11's for the tire size in the manual. They are rated at 750 lbs each. Been using them for years and usually get a minimum 10-15,000 on a front tire. last one got over 22,000 mile on it.

One of the good thing's about the Michelin Commander II's, high rated capacity compared to other's, & mileage looks like a winner as well.

I like my Shinko A230s which you can order using this link. The original ones on the Rats Nest were delivered to Steve83 for installation in 2013 for around $140 for the pair.

Makes you wonder why they use that code rather than just using the weight.

The front Shinko 230 is a 62 load rating where the rear ups it to a 74 load rating.

I'm also running the Shinko and I weight 260 and my wife is about 150. She doesn't ride with me much anymore but the tires handle the weight just fine and I get excellent wear out of them.

After much research and the thumbs up from wingers here I ordered the Shinko 230. There are not a lot of choices in that size and load range and no shops around here had them in stock. It's good I payed attention to the rating. If I had not I would have picked a tire that's too light for a Goldwing.

I was notified the tire shipped Thursday, July 7, 2016, 5:27 PM Arriving: Wednesday, July 13 -Monday, July 18 It got here today in less than 24 hours! It was ordered from Bike Bandit through Amazon. Direct from BB it was $23 shipping but through Amazon shipping was free and it cost the same.

I chatted with someone at Bike Bandit to ask where they shipped from so I could get an idea of how long it would take. He said their tire warehouse was near me so I would get it much faster than the website's generic 5 to 10 days. I can't ask for better than 20 hours. :clapping: So Wingers in the mid-Atlantic take note. If you're ordering tires Bike Bandit is at least as fast to your door as a shop can get it to theirs.

I ben getting my tires and stuff from BB, too. Order the stuff in the mornin, and it's sittin on the porch by noon next day. They do happen to have a warehouse here, though. :clapping:
